R32 is a pure HFC refrigerant, ASHRAE class A2L, that is becoming common in new-generation split air conditioners and heat-pump systems.
About this refrigerant
R32 (difluoromethane / CH₂F₂) is a pure HFC refrigerant. Its GWP is lower than R410A, and because of its good thermodynamic properties it is used in new-generation residential and light-commercial air-conditioning systems and many heat pumps.
ASHRAE safety class is A2L — lower toxicity, mildly flammable with a low burning velocity. It must therefore be used only in equipment designed for R32/A2L, within the charge limits and safety conditions set by the manufacturer. ODP is zero, and typical applications use POE oil.
