About this refrigerant
R404A is an HFC blend of R125 / R143a / R134a (44 / 52 / 4 wt%). It was widely adopted for low and medium temperature commercial refrigeration — cold rooms, display cabinets and transport cooling — where reliable capacity at lower evaporating temperatures is needed.
It is ASHRAE A1 with zero ODP. Like other high-GWP HFCs it is subject to phase-down policies in many markets; service stock and correct recovery remain important for existing plant. Systems typically run on POE lubricants.
